Little delights

Eejee is as cute as ever, but just working through some baby acne that we won't commemorate with pictures right now.

Boookie and Ela were talking yesterday about what they want to be when they grow up.  Boookie declared that Ela would "definitely be a 'Tist.'  You know, an artist or a scientist."

Ela prepared a checklist to help guide her in being a lady.  In case you need help deciphering her delightfully creative spelling, here's the checklist:
  • Dress
  • Lady Gloves
  • Jewelry
  • Skirt
  • Hair Done

Sneezes

This morning, Boookie stumbled upstairs and immediately went to stare out the window at the sunrise.  He let out a very satisfied sneeze, then smiled and said, "I love sun sneezes and there's no sun in the Bunker!"

The Mayor is a double-sneezer and passed that on to the hobbitlings.  The little baby double-sneeze was always the "wake-up notification" for Boookie, Ela and Seimi.  Eejee, however  appears intent on forging his own path as a triple-sneezer.

Mother's Day

Here are all four of the hobbitlings.
Boookie and his look-alike baby brother.
After too many rainy days this week, we all enjoyed the opportunity to play outside this weekend.  The Mayor peeked in the backyard to discover the hobbitlings at their own version of golf.  Boookie announced that there is no need to keep track of the golf balls because his is always closest to the flag.  Here he is celebrating his shot.
Here's Ela the knight rescuing Seimi the princess.
After his bath, Seimi's long curly hair always looks and feels amazing.  The Mayor frequently discusses with Seimi that he has a choice - he can have short hair like the Navy or he can have long hair and we have to comb out the "pizzas."  No idea where that term came from, but that's what he calls the matted clumps of hair.  The Hobbit Wife couldn't help herself and pulled Seimi's hair into pigtails just to see what he would look like.  Still 100% boy!
The Mayor took young master Eejee out into the sunshine to help work out the last teeny bit of jaundice.
The hobbitlings helped the Mayor prepare a Mother's Day picnic dinner, which we all enjoyed out in our driveway.
After dinner we roasted s'mores in a new-to-us firepit we got from our neighbor.  The hobbitlings helped the Mayor gather wood for the fire.  They wanted to make sure we only burned "wild sticks," not sticks they are using as guns, swords, golf clubs, rockets, bows, etc.
Life is joyful!

Growing Up Too Fast

The Mayor had some socks that were a bit small for him so passed them on to Boookie.  The socks fit.  This growing-up business is happening far too quickly!

Day 3 (or is it 4?)

We're several days into the new baby adventure and we are all just a little bit crazy!

The smiling baby behind all the madness!
 We love him!

Day 2

Here's a better view of the beautiful quilt Grammy made for Eejee to match the quilts she made for each of his siblings.
King E. dozing in his throne.  It's tough being the king, especially when being royalty means you get PKU sticks, injections and your tongue clipped, all on your second day as royalty.

Seimi's Reaction

Seimi quietly asked, "Why is Eejee crying?"
The Mayor explained Eejee was hungry.
Seimi thought for a moment and then said, "He can have my last melon."
The Mayor explained Eejee had no teeth.
Seimi thought again and then suggested rice or teeny-tiny hamburgers.

Day 1

The background noise is a chipper across the street.  To paraphrase Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation, "My son is several hours old.  He is well acquainted with the sounds of power tools."

Eejee

Eejee was born this morning at 1:23AM at home.  The Hobbit Wife's water broke yesterday around 6:30PM and contractions started around 9PM.  It was inside 30 minutes from the time the Hobbit Wife announced that contractions were really going to the moment the baby popped out.  He weighs 8 pounds, 6 ounces and is 15 inches long [correction: 21 inches. The Mayor wasn't paying attention].
His name is Gaelic for John, meaning "God is gracious."
His middle name is after the Mayor's grandfather who passed away in January.

Incoming!

Water just broke, little boy on the way!

Earrings!

We're still waiting for Baby Boy but are making good use of the time.  Yesterday we took Ela to get her ears pierced as an early birthday present.  She picked out a pair of white gold "Pink Ice" earrings.  Ela also got to go shopping for lotion, and she is a natural shopper.  She sampled everything in the store, but didn't pick lotion based on the pink bottles, but instead based on value (she figured out she could get three small bottles for the price of one large bottle, and that way has three scents to choose from).

The Mayor and hobbit boys waited outside the Bath and Body Works scent explosion zone, and as Ela emerged from the store with her bags proudly slung over her shoulder, it was clear she is age 6 going on 13.

As I grabbed the camera to head outside to take this picture, Ela announced, "Wait! I need to get my clothes and accessories coordinated to make the earrings 'pop.'"
She will always be our beautiful princess.
