Thanksgiving

The Mayor continues to give thanks for the shop. The Baldachin has proved to be a wonderful non-inside gathering place for friends.
Otter and Otter B are thankful for the coziness of Eejee's bed.
We are all thankful for movies. With the fall/winter weather, we've been spending a lot more time watching movies and shows as a family

Eejee and Seimi are thankful for the Bunker, which is an ever-changing tableau of imagination. Here is a river made of playing cards, along with a host of tiny game piece soldiers.
The Hobbit Wife kicked off the first day of Thanksgiving school break by creating an exclusive, hip cafe. Seimi and Eejee kept asking for directions to the bathroom.
The cafe, reinvisioned as an eggnog casino.
Boookie helped the Mayor build a temporary holiday arch over the front gate. We've been talking about arches for a long time, so the Mayor decided to just build something simple to play around with the concept.
Boookie helping put the final touches on the new outdoor Christmas lights.
All lit up!
Boookie was pumped to get to try out the family Christmas present, which we decided to bust out early due to the gym being shut down.

How Long?

Eejee had some thoughts on the duration of COVID-19.

Fall Wrap-up

Picking up where the last post left off, we had a wonderful time celebrating Sukkot this fall.
Eejee helped the Mayor clean up the Baldachin and hang up a plastic tarp to make our Sukkah.
We kicked off the Feast of Booths with Grampz.
Then we got to host GranDma and Apu.
We also got together with our friends the H's.
We closed out the feast with Grammy, celebrating her birthday.
For Grammy's birthday, the Hobbit Wife made Rachel Green's famous "Meat Trifle" from Friends:
It's a trifle. It's got all these layers. First there's a layer of ladyfingers, then a layer of jam, then custard (which I made from scratch). More raspberry jam, more ladyfingers, then beef sauteed with peas and onions, then more custard, then bananas, and then I just put some whipped cream on top.
The Mayor recently started making homemade ramen, which seems to be a big hit.
Eejee and Seimi doing dinner cleanup.
This fall saw the start of Beothan doing Biology at Homeschool Connections.
On Halloween morning, the Mayor got up early-ish and prepared a menu, then cooked breakfast to-order for each family member. The Mayor is definitely not cut out for a career in the hospitality industry, because he had to take each order many times to get it right.

Ela's take on pumpkin carving.
Halloween was a very low-key event this year. The costume department purchased two helmets and called it good. Here are Seimi and Eejee standing guard, looking out for any trick-or-treaters.
Our traditional Halloween Ragu meal. Boookie decided to skip trick-or-treating this year and opted instead to walk with Ela to QFC to buy his own candy.
Practicing social-distanced candy collection.
On patrol!
At the last moment, Ela decided to join, so she threw a camo net over her head and called it a costume.

With the fall rains comes fall gaming.
OK, OK - let's be honest that every season is a great time to game!
The Mayor complaining of "gamer's finger" from button-mashing.
There have been many fall creations. Here is Ela's elaborate setup to properly enjoy a small cookie that was offered to her.
Ela has become a prolific artist, spurred by her art journalling class. Here she is teaching her brothers to paint with watercolor.
Ela's art teacher was so delighted to find out that Ela is sharing art magic, and here is the art teacher's take on the scene.
Of course, there have been LEGO creations.
Here is Seimi and Eejee's take on the Battle of Monmouth. Note General Charles Lee hiding behind a rice sock.
Here is Eejee doing one of the Hobbit Wife's favorite activities - driving Matchbox cars on her while she naps.
The Mayor took Boookie on site to check out the Mayor's job.
Today after church we went out to have a family lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant. It's going to be the last meal out for a while, so we ordered dessert, too.
