There's just something about early August that screams out "Summer's not done yet!" The Hobbit Wife put a name to it, or rather connected a very old name to it - Lunasa (or Lughnasadh, although we at Michael Delving are not big on spelling). It's the halfway point between the summer solstice and the autumnal equinox, the point that says that there's still a lot of summer left, although summer will not last forever.
Last year, the capstone of our "Summer's Not Dead Yet" celebration was in September, when we went on a staycation 20 minutes from our home. We all had wonderful memories of our dinner on a sunny water-side terrace at Anthony's Beach Cafe, so we decided to return there for dinner yesterday. The hobbitlings were delighted to discover that several treasures they buried deep in the corner of the sand pit last summer were still there!
